From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences growing in strength within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and presented the first table of heroes who will separate from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem unsuited, but the events of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his own means, entering the hidden lair, striking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and warns that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as important members in House Halovar could assist the team reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them few options but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
